Role Responsibilities As a Senior Software Developer, you will be responsible for the design, creation, testing, deployment and documentation of new and amended software components for various applications. In this role, you will be making a leading contribution to tooling, processes and practices aimed at improving and enabling development at ASIO. This will include: Design, delivery and operation of CI/CD tooling to support development throughout ASIO; Leading the use of new technologies and practices in ASIO's development program; Identification of and delivery against opportunities for automation in new and existing workflows; Consultation with other project teams to improve their use of modern development practices; Mentoring new and existing staff in the use of modern software development tools and techniques. Key Attributes The ideal candidate will possess the following: Experience working as a software developer, and expertise in software development practices; Expertise programming in at least one of Python, C#, Java or Golang; Experience using containerisation technologies such as Docker; Experience in application and system design; Experience using and operating CI/CD tools and source control systems. In addition, the following are desirable but not necessary: Experience using container orchestration platforms, especially Kubernetes; Experience using configuration-as-code workflows and deployment mechanisms; Experience integrating code assurance and security tooling with CI/CD systems; A foundational understanding of networking, virtualisation, OS and server management; A foundational understanding of information, network and application security. Qualifications Tertiary courses in computer science, information technology and engineering are well regarded but not essential. We have a 12 month fixed term role which coordinates the transition of projects into service / BAU operations for multiple programs of work of varying scope & complexity. This role has a large scope to demonstrate your skills and strong performance with potential for this role to continue longer term. The role will involve broad stakeholder management with both internal and external parties so experience in this area is key. Your diplomatic style will see you form strong relationships and drive outcomes, leading to a smooth transition of programs of work. You are the key conduit between program, support and technical teams to ensure clear communication and cohesive work between all parties. Key aspects of the role include: Proactively identify & raise risks to successful transition to service and escalate through the appropriate channels to ensure the risk is understood and is either accepted or mitigated;Provide subject matter expertise at a high level across all ITIL Service management disciplines to ensure the validations & signoffs being provided by project, support & service management teams are covering all reasonable aspects of a good transition to service;Work closely with the Service design coordinator & analyst to understand any design activities required to be completed by the project team and ensure they are being incorporated in build & test activities or highlight the gaps and raise risks.QualificationsAbout you and what you'll bringYou ideally have experience in Transition Planning and Support however professional experience in another ITIL function is also valued.
