Canberra Health Services is a partner in teaching with the Australian National University, the University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University.The Division of Surgery and Oral Health is responsible for delivering inpatient and outpatients surgical services and prevention and treatment dental health programs for children, targeted youth and adults of the ACT and surrounding region. The Division includes Surgical Bookings and Pre-Admission Clinic, Anaesthesia, Pain Management Unit, Operating Theatres, Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit, Day Surgery Unit and Admissions/Extended Day Surgery Unit, specialist surgical ward areas, medical and nursing Outpatient services, Shock Trauma Service, Trauma and Orthopaedic Research Unit and the ACT Dental Health Program.Overview of the work area and position:The Peri-operative Unit at the Canberra Hospital consists of a Day Surgery Admissions (DOSA) Unit, 13 Operating Theatres covering a wide range of surgical specialties, Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) and a 12 bed Extended Day Surgery Unit (EDSU) together with several out of area procedural/invasive specialty areas.The Peri-operative Registered Nurse implements a systemic and planned approach to activities associated with the provision of holistic patient care during the peri-operative experience. These trials are either Pharmaceutical Sponsored trials, Registries, Investigator Led trials or Collaborative Studies that are funded by grants. The Therapies Team Manager provides operational leadership and oversees the daily operations of the team in line with service objectives, established procedures and sound governance processes for service delivery decisions.  The Manager manages human resources, finances, reporting, and quality and safety compliance.  The Manager conducts clinical load review and staff allocation and is the escalation point for systemic problems and grievances.  The Manager reports directly to the Senior Manager for the Access & Specialty Teams and is the communication point for organisational liaison for the Therapies Team.  Professional governance of this position will come from the relevant Discipline Principal (MHJHADS).  This position also forms part of the ACMHS leadership team, to progress and represent the work of the service. The Manager may have a clinical load in addition to the operational management responsibilities in the team and will be responsible for conducting skilled clinical assessments and delivering high-itensity psychological interventions to people.  The Manager will oversee the clinical governance of the psychological and psychosocial interventions provided by the Therapies Team with the support of senior members of the team.
