Providing direct support in the implementation and introduction of existing advanced NDT solutions for both new and existing clients. Managing the development, proposal, trial, and implementation of advanced NDT solutions to client’s integrity requirements, ensuring quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of service delivery. Carrying out validations and investigations of new and proposed testing techniques for maintenance and construction applications on client facilities. Providing field support to technicians performing advanced NDT techniques, as required, to ensure high-quality results in line with applicable standards. Liaising with Operations and Project Managers for review and approval of advanced NDT intervention points to ensure adequate intervention points are specified within project and quality plans. Preparing and issuing advanced NDT project-specific procedures, overseeing development and implementation, monitoring applications in the field, and troubleshooting as required. Reviewing and approving ANDT reports to a conclusion in preparation for submission to clients Supporting the regional offices to develop, improve and implement applications and grow opportunities with local clients. Providing technical support to the Commercial Sales team in market development and commercial processes, including proposing project timeframes, budgets, costs, etc for quoting client requirements and responding to tenders. Delivering demonstrations to managers, technicians, and clients, promoting advanced NDT solutions and techniques. Delivering presentations to clients, in conjunction with NDT Operations and Commercial Sales teams, to promote new and existing NDT techniques. Providing formal training to technicians on the execution of advanced and conventional NDT techniques. Liaising with NDT suppliers and colleagues in worldwide application centers to maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments. Liaising and advise with management and clients on optimum methods of ANDT in relation to services conditions of materials and operating equipment. Advising management on innovative ANDT equipment and training for utilization thereof. Under certification and training duties, Technical Manager is also responsible for participating in technical/operational/HSQE meetings with key clients to further improve relationships; maintaining own certification in current test methods, completing refresher training for paperwork, reporting, and conducting relevant test procedures; maintaining site/safety inductions. Applus takes its quality management seriously, therefore, Technical Manager will also ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Applus Quality Management System and that activities support the retention of NATA and other quality accreditations and auditing requirements. To qualify, you should have: Commercial/business acumen and financial knowledge Leadership and Management experience Technical abilities and relevant conventional and advanced qualifications (e.g. UT, MT, PT, RT, ET, PA, and/or tube inspection as appropriate) Adequate knowledge of inspection codes criteria and statutory requirements Engineering background and/or tertiary qualification is preferred but not essential; ability to read and understand technical drawings, plans, PIDs etc A sound understanding of the Applus procedures and systems and NATA requirements Good communication skills Sound knowledge of the Company’s technical business including Advanced NDT, Plant Inspection, and Innovative Applications. As a Site Supervisor you will be responsible for the management of infrastructure projects to ensure they are delivered safely and in accordance with the contract requirements. About the role As part of the Technical Team the Civil Engineer will manage, or contribute to the management of, a number of contracts for specialist design and engineering services. You will be the 'client representative' for the site-specific design and enabling works design for the client. About the role Reporting to the Managing Director Defence, the Head of Defence Engineering will lead the Defence Engineering team for Babcock Australasia with the flexibility to be located in either Adelaide or Auckland (other locations in Australia or New Zealand may be considered). In addition you will: Drive professional development and professional standards of the regional Defence engineering function; Provide mentoring and coaching support, both technical and leadership focussed, to the wider regional engineering population, as well as early career support and the graduate pipeline; Improve engineering process, activity and governance, including implementing appropriate metrics, to drive effectiveness, efficiency and targeted prioritisation, ensuring delivery to programme and budget; Manage, amend and approve specifications, including changes resulting from emergent work packages, with due consideration of any increased risk to the Defence Business; Act as the Design / Technical Authority, for Australasian Defence Engineering, ensuring the technical integrity and quality of products and services provided; Foster pro-active links and maintain good working relationships within the technical teams, customers, industry and the wider Babcock to enable effective use of required capability; Take a lead role in the review, maintenance and upkeep of quality assurance documentation. About you As a highly experienced Defence Engineering professional you will have an extensive track record of delivery within a complex defence environment.
