Job Description Coleman Rail has a long-standing reputation as the leading rail and infrastructure contractor in Australia. Providing construction services for major rail and transport infrastructure projects both in metropolitan and regional areas. Funded by the Victorian Government, the Shepparton Line Upgrade will deliver more frequent services and will allow modern VLocity trains to travel to and from Shepparton for the first time. The $356 million Shepparton Line Upgrade will be delivered in three stages, Stage 2 includes platform extensions, upgrades to 59 level crossing and a stabling facility. The Area Manager reports to the Construction Manager and is responsible for the coordination of onsite construction activities, direct wages employees, plant resources and subcontract teams to achieve effective performance from all parties. The key responsibilities of the Supervisors are to ensure the safe and successful completion of the project on schedule and to the specified quality. Key Responsibilities: Day to day management of project construction activities Manage and monitor the performance of the workforce and subcontractors on site to ensure technical, program, quality, environmental, industrial relations, safety and commercial obligations are achieved and maintained. Plan, manage and implement the site establishment activities necessary to ensure all site specific and contract requirements are met in terms of location, fencing, signage, environmental and traffic conditions. Identification, formulation and control of project costs budget ensuring project is appropriately funded and completed within the approved budget Identification, analysis and mitigation of potential risk events including establishment of risk register and initiation of corrective action when required Manage changes to scope, deliverables, schedule and budget Preparation of all required technical and financial reports on the status of site construction works, including forecasting (cost and time), technical, program, quality, environmental, industrial, safety and subcontractor performance. Analyse variance, trends, risks and opportunities, key business drivers and sensitivities, highlighting significant operational performance issues to management Demonstrate an awareness of cost allowances prior to commencing activities Oversee the collection and code external plant hire dockets, delivery dockets and internal plant and labour timesheets and delivers daily to the administrator Assist in the relationship between the various trades and ensure that subcontractors carry out work safely, efficiently and in accordance with the work program Required Skills and Competencies Civil Engineering degree (or similar) Minimum 6 years’ experience in a similar position Station Build exposure highly desirable Excellent people leadership skills Constant alertness to project risks and opportunities, including proactive intervention and/or escalation where required The ability to make good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgement Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly Construction Induction Training (CIT/’White Card’, formerly a ‘Red Card’), obtained via face-to-face training, not online Current Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and promote equality and diversity.
