This pivotal role, reporting directly to the Machine Shop Manager and the General Manager, is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Machine Shop to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Developing detailed work lists for shift transitions to ensure seamless operationsAssisting in training personnel and apprentices, empowering them to perform their dutiesConducting descriptive production, safety, environmental, and quality toolbox meetingsEnsuring all materials and tooling are organised for shiftsPlanning and directing the operations of the Machine Shop to improve performance and profitabilityImplementing and managing operational plans and quality objectivesProviding leadership for day-to-day operations and monitoring compliance with legislative requirementsSupporting continuous improvement processes and quality improvement activities within the Machine ShopWhat We Need From YouThe successful candidate will be a qualified Fitter & Machinist with at least 5 years experience in CNC machining on multi-axis machines and also have manual machine experience.Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:Working knowledge of organisational effectiveness and operations managementCompetency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and ExcelFamiliarity with Occupational Safety and Health & Environmental principlesUnderstanding of quality principles within a medium-sized service delivery operationDemonstrated stability of performance under pressureAs our ideal candidate, you will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills that enable effective leadership, the ability to build and develop teams, and establish effective working relationships with stakeholders.
