You will support the Head of Indigenous to identify and develop high quality and distinctive, original Indigenous content which engages and is valued by Australian audiences ensuring the ABC is a pre-eminent public broadcaster and digital service. You will also: Manage the development of scripted, factual and social media content across all genres and formats. Assess the suitability and viability of both solicited and unsolicited program proposals submitted to ABC Indigenous. Work with and to the Head of Indigenous to evaluate and make recommendations regarding programs that are submitted to ABC Indigenous. Provide substantial editorial judgement through the development process that ensures content satisfies ABC Indigenous' Editorial and production standards and ABC Editorial Policy and Charter obligations. Foster and maintain key relationships with First Nations stakeholders, community representatives and screen content makers to support the development of Indigenous content making in Australia. About You We are seeking a Development Manager with advanced experience and thorough knowledge of the development process of scripted, factual and short-form content across a wide range of formats. You will have substantial editorial skills with proven ability to develop First Nations content that is in line with broadcaster objectives and meets the aims of the intended platforms. You will also have: The ability to identify and develop new content with an emphasis on popular, original, and First Nations-led content. Demonstrated ability to manage a comprehensive slate of varied projects simultaneously. Proven track record working with or within the Australian independent and First Nations production sector. Efficient use of technology and application, including accuracy of input and interpretation of information on computer applications and ABC systems including Dragon and Gecko. Highly developed and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and a strong understanding of the issues affecting First Nations people. Highly developed ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
