VFC is a community-based early intervention program providing one on one support to parents and carers in their home or other safe place. The aim of this phase is to provide a staged separation from the security of the TC, allowing residents the ability to become confident and productive members of society.We are seeking empathetic and committed role models, 25 – 65 years of age, who wish to be designated Mentors to provide guidance, assistance, and education to an individual with whom they have been matched. Volunteers will have the necessary skills, knowledge, and a positive attitude towards supporting people during this transitionary phase. Volunteer Digital Mentor – Tech Mates Program

About the role Give people the power to be online and use technology! A Tech Mate is a mentor who provides one-on-one support to help people learn about technology and use it confidently and safely. If you can send an email, surf the web or change a password on a device, you can join a community of volunteers who are helping people get online. You don’t need to be an IT expert. All you need is at least one hour per week, patience and the ability to teach someone the basics. We provide orientation, training and ongoing support. Day and time of mentoring is set between the learner and the Tech Mate and occurs weekly or fortnightly. We have the option of face to face in one of our learning hubs, in person (at an agreed location) and online. We are looking for a 3 month commitment but hope that you will continue with us for longer. You need to be over 16 for this role and be able to complete a national police check.Read more here
