WAFIC works to secure a responsible and viable industry that is confident of resource sustainability and security of access to a fair share of that resource, together with cost-effective fisheries’ management, the operation of businesses in a safe, environmentally responsible and profitable way, and the appreciation and promotion of investment in industry research and development.WAFIC provides strategic leadership and advocacy on significant matters affecting the industry as a whole. Your expertise in governance, policy and business practice will bring renewed integrity to board and organisational processes.Skills Required Ideally you will have senior leadership experience developed via the representation of industry membership, political, government sector or campaign and advocacy driven organisations. You have a deep understanding of local, national and global natural resource trends and you understand the importance of and bring the knowhow to build a strong member driven peak body.Qualified in an appropriate discipline, you will have the capacity to understand industry funding models and can develop income diversification strategies. You’re well known for managing complex government and industry relationships at both the policy and resourcing levels, as well as identifying commercial opportunities and engaging with the market to stimulate participation and collaboration.Working with a board is second nature to you, as is your experience in governance, human resources, financial management and leading a team, including organisational development and ongoing review.A background in the fishing industry or industry associations will be highly regarded.
