This is a great opportunity for a student or recent graduate with training in a Science / Environment program to gain great understanding of the work we do, our commitment to safety and the options we offer across our large-scale operations. You'll build relationships with the Rio Tinto team and community as well as gather valuable real-world experience. You will have an opportunity to:Participate in the collection of environmental samples (such as water, sediment, dust/air, aquatic and terrestrial wildlife, and vegetation), take accurate field and laboratory measurements, and enter data. Participate in regional and local scale wildlife monitoring programs (including grizzly bears, wolverines, and caribou.)Maintain and calibrate field and laboratory monitoring equipment.Conduct in-house laboratory tests (such as TSS, turbidity, Eh, DO , and pH). Complete and document formal site compliance inspections weekly and informal inspections daily.Fly in helicopters and operate motor vehicles, motorboats and use other powered field sampling equipment.Assist with projects designed to help prepare Diavik for future closure.
