DescriptionOur Local Government client located in the northern area of Brisbane is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of Civil Designer (Technical) up until the end of the financial year – may extend.The purpose of the role is to prepare documentation and detailed civil engineering based designs for projects that incorporate a range of elements that form the built environment, and are consistent with Council’s strategic outcomes of quality urban design and placemaking.Further, this role will predominantly be responsible for the design of multiple small projects, such as footpaths.Responsibilities will include:Preparing complex integrated civil engineering based designsApplying advanced technical design knowledge to the development of innovative solution based outcomesPreparing accurate estimates of costs and project documentation using schedules of rates, bills of quantitiesActing as a point of contact for design matters by providing expert advice, innovation and problem solving for managementLiaising with external stakeholders and authoritiesLiaising with  internal stakeholders including project sponsors/owners, project managers/delivery, and other key stakeholders including divisional councillorsAssisting in the processing of inquiries from both internal and external customersContributing to regular design review meetingsUndertaking site inspectionsTo be successful you will require: Bachelor, Associate Degree or Advanced Diploma in civil engineering or other relevant fieldDemonstrated relevant experience in a similar role or a role requiring a similar skill setHigh level of proficiency in the preparation of civil engineering design plans and highly skilled in integrated transport design using computer aided design methods with advanced skills in 12D model softwareDemonstrated ability to accurately measure quantities for the preparation of cost estimates as well as interpret client needs through written documentation (design briefs) and verbal communicationDemonstrated ability to read survey plans and interpret survey field dataExcellent time management skillsWell developed people and relationship skillsConstruction Induction Card competency that has been used or obtained within the past 2 yearsCurrent C class driver’s licenceThe ability to pass a national criminal history checkApply now, or for more information email Tina at [email protected]
